I’m kind of wondering if I’ll ever be completely moved in. I suppose I will, but it feels endless right now. Not complaining, really, just worn out.
Day before yesterday, I found the lamps that go on my nightstands. I plugged them in, they did not work. I switched outlets, I flicked switches, and finally brought in another lamp that worked in another room and found that it would not work either.
In my bathroom, there’s a light over the bathroom sink that was missing a bulb. I got bulbs today, and put one in and it went on. There are 2 light switches in the teeny bathroom, and neither of them turn the light out.
I guess I need an electrician.
Back to the bathroom. The hot and cold water are reversed. And there’s a leak in the drain under the sink. I haven’t gotten down on the floor to check out the leak yet. But the hot and cold water, I am pretty sure I’ll need a plumber for that.
I bought groceries today, for the first time. It’s nice to have more than a yogurt and a frozen pizza in the fridge. I also bought all that stuff I needed, like a new shower head. Yesterday I went to take my first shower here, and there was no pressure in the shower head. I walked away from it for a moment, and it shot off the wall, across the tub. Glad I was not in there for that. I think it would have hurt. Anyway, so I bought one, and a bunch of other odds and ends. Light bulbs, nails, hooks, stuff….
When I got home I put in the new shower head. Pretty simple thing to do actually. But it leaks slightly, I was advised to put some teflon tape around the threads and it will stop. I got one of those poles that goes in the corner of the tub, and has shelves on it for shampoo, etc. I put it together this afternoon. So my shower is now at least working.
And then I unpacked 3 ginormous boxes of kitchen stuff. I guess I’m beginning to see daylight in there. But boy am I tired tonight. Gonna be an early night for me. Tomorrow I’m going to some huge tag sale, and see if I can find a few of the things I need for my house. Kitchen table, deck furniture, bed frame for my guest room.
Right now all I want to do is sleep. I gotta say it is so nice to have autumn show up, and not be fearing the friggin frozen winters of New England.

IN all of my bedrooms, there’s a switch on the wall that didn’t seem connected to anything, turns out, it powers the lower part of the outlets….try that….perhaps a Florida thing. So a clock, lamp, anything won’t work unless the wall switch is in the correct position….hope it helps….don’t know plumbing….sorry…peace and love and it will get better. You’re in paradise😊🌴☀️🐟💦
I did. I had that in my family room in CT. But no such luck. There’s only one switch it turns on the ceiling fan but that’s it. Oh well. Thanks for the try!!
For the taps, probably no need for a plumber – I had this happen to me before, its a 2mn job, if you think about it, you don’t need to swop the taps round, just the top where it says hot and cold, just swop those round and you’re done! Its a bit odd if you’re used to hot being on the left, cold on the right, and visa versa, but you soon get used to it, they are plumbed in differently in each house 🙂
Electrician sounds like a good idea tho!

Ha,ha, good, cos you never know ! I just wrote it, and what if she thinks a 2 mn job is some sophisticated plumbing term! Then I thought, what if they aren’t familiar with the abbreviation to “mins” in the USA?? OMG< I screwed up big time there!!! LOL Xx

All you really have to do it reverse the leads to the handle part. Mine were switched where my washing machine was in Florida. I found out when I washed something in “cold” water and it shrunk because it was hot 😦
Did none of those things show up in the inspection? I could see no reason at all for you to have these in a bedroom, but are the outlets by any chance GFIs?
Idk bi wasn’t here, didn’t read it all that carefully. None of its a big deal, just need to get someone working on them. Outlets are old 2 prong.
You know you can change them yourself…but get the grounded ones. Until then….25 foot extension cords will do the trick! LOL
I don’t mess with electric. Someone needs to bring electric to the walls.
Do you know if you have that old knob and tube…and fuses in the fusebox? UGH. My house had been updated but they left the old stuff there. My house here, has one fusebox that still has fuses. I wasn’t here either or I would have asked for that to be changed out. 😦
I have breakers, and they’re all on. Checked that too. My sis said she remembers something about them not working during the inspection. It doesn’t matter anyway at this point. It’s my problem to deal with. So, I will. Starting Monday.
