Question of the Day
If money or time were not an object, where, if anywhere, would you travel? Why?
When I was in my 20’s and 30’s, I dreamed of tropical isles, like Bali, or Fiji, the Marquesas. I was heavy into boating then, and thought a perfect vacation would be to charter a boat and cruise the Caribbean, and the South Pacific for as long as I wanted. In fact, it was my ex’s and my plan to retire at 55 and buy a 50’ yacht and cruise for a couple years in south Florida, the Bahamas and the Caribbean. Hahaha. Talk about dreamers.
As I’ve gotten older, Italy has become the focus of my travel dreams. I have said it’s “too much Eat, Pray, Love and Under the Tuscan Sun.” In Eat, Pray, Love Liz Gilbert chose Italy (Eat) because it was a place that put a priority on pleasure. I want to go somewhere where there is no guilt associated with indulging in pleasure, where people encourage pleasure, not discourage it. It only adds to the desire to go there when I think about the beauty of Tuscany, or the Amalfi coast, or the incredible food, the ancient ruins of the cradle of civilization, the art that is everywhere. It seems it must be a feast for the senses.
Dan and I almost went this spring, but decided to delay the trip a year when I was diagnosed with RA. I wanted to get it under control, with the pain managed, before I take a trip that will involve walking lots. I will go though, for sure.
There are other places on my list, after Italy, and they are all vying for 2nd position, including but not limited to Ireland and the rest of the UK, France, and the South Pacific islands of my youthful dreams.
So tell me, if you could go anywhere in the world (or out of it if that’s your dream!) where would you go? And why?
As always, love and light to all.
Anywhere in the world, hmm? I am a simple woman. I have always wanted to travel to Hawaii, London, England, and Paris, France. If I could knock all three of those places out before I die, I’d be one happy camper 🙂
I’m pretty simple too, and will be happy with Italy. But if the means appears, I could do a few more places!!!
I hear that. Italy… I’d eat myself silly there. LOL.
For as long as I could remember I’ve wanted to go to the Pacific Northwest, hug the redwoods, and maybe head up to Alaska. In the summertime of course. If money was no object, I would like to see New Zealand where the Lord of the Rings was filmed. But as I get older, warm, tropical islands do have more appeal. Maybe Hawaii, somewhere that nature is prevalent and pristine.
OH yes, the redwood should be up there on my list, and the Sequoia’s. The Grand Canyon. So many great places here in the US. And I gotta agree that New Zealand and Hawaii are up there on the list!
Favourite places I would go back to in a heartbeat: Tofino, Northern Alberta, Greece, New Zealand. Places I want to go, fingers crossed: Base Camp Everest, Antarctica, Nile River, Dive to Titanic..YIKES!
Diving to the Titanic? What’s it in, like 12,000 ft of water? LOL. Learn to hold your breath! Great ideas though! So interesting to read others ideas on travel!
LOL! Would need James Cameron, Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet in the submarine with me!
😁
Blimey, its a tough one, I’d like to go to Mississippi, where Huck Finn lived, and Egypt, to see the pyramids, and Africa of course, I’d like to go see mount Everest, and Nepal, or whatever it is, that place near China? I’d like to go to Vietnam, and Cambodia, and Laos, and Siberia and Finland for starters!
Oh my, I grew up 3 blocks from the Mississippi River, in Iowa. Big friggin’ river! LOL. Spent a lot of weekends there with family and friends in our little 16′ boat. So many great places to visit aren’t there? If we could just fund the trips!
