Question of the day
What book, or books, are you reading now? Do you like it? Electronic book reader or the real thing?
I love to read, but that being said, I don’t do nearly as much of it as I used to. I have a kindle, and have probably at least 20 books on it I haven’t read. I get the email from Bookbub every day and sometimes they have really good books on there for really cheap. Like, I bought People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn about a month ago. I’ll read it one of these days, it’s on the top of the list. The book I’m actually reading at the moment is A Tangled Mercy by Joy Jordan-Lake. I like it a lot! I love having the kindle for a couple reasons. I can take my whole library with me, don’t have to find shelf space for the books, and I am never without a new book. I used to panic if I finished a book and didn’t have a new one to start. The drawback to my having a kindle is that if I buy a book that I really want to read, I find myself reading 2 books, or more, at once, and that’s probably not a really good thing, because you tend to lose the continuity.
I just counted at least 25 books on the kindle that I have not read. Maybe I should stop reading Bookbub’s emails. Meh, no. Sometimes you just find a treasure.
So tell me, in a comment or a blog linked back here, what you’re reading. I’d love to have some suggestions to add to my library.
As always, love and light to everyone.
I am currently rereading The Alchemist by Coehlo
One of my favorite books. I’ve read a bunch of his, and have a new one on my kindle. Amazing work, short books always with something to teach. Hope you enjoy it!
How are the other books?
I’ve like them all that I’ve read. I was taken by The Valkyries especially. I think that’s a story I need to write in a blog, because starting with the Alchemist, those two books really led me on a journey that was kind of amazing. Maybe will write and publish that soon.
I hope you do. Will have to put it on my list. Thank you for letting me know.
You’re welcome!
I am on my eleventh book of the year and currently, I am reading “My Soul To Keep” by Tananarive Due. I’m old school, it’s a paperback. 🙂 And, it’s a great book, solid book, thus far. I am about 70% through it and every page is a reason for me to continue reading it!
I love books like that. I think I’ll put that one on my list. 🙂
It’s an incredible read. You’d like it!
I can relate to the Kindle library. I’m guessing I have about 12 unread e-books there and a few that I’ve started. I also have about 5 books next to my bed or on my dresser including Elizabeth Gilbert’s Big Magic which I started months ago. On top of the paperback pile is a little book called The Social Justice Bible Challenge which I plan to start this week. What I read depends on my mood. For escape, I’ve been reading Jean Auel’s, The Land of Painted Caves for a couple of years in hardback. It’s the concluding book in the series that started with The Clan of the Cave Bear. I don’t want to finish it because the series has been part of my life for 30 years. I do actually finish books. Just finished The Carving Tree on Kindle.
I have read most of Elizabeth Gilberts books, but not Big Magic, though it’s been on my list for some time. Also there’s this book called “Trust the Timing” that is on my list! I get it about not wanting to finish the book. I was that way with Ahab’s Wife by Sena Jeter Naslund. I cried when I finished it, lol, becuase I didn’t want it to be over. I started the OUtlander series because I LOVE the show. Just need more time to read all the books I want to read. Thanks for all the suggestions!
Sure! One things for sure, we’ll never run out of books to read. 🙂 I just put one on my “To read” list called, Blue Mind. It’s about water.
I just checked out Blue Mind on Amazon and ordered it for my kindle. It seems like a book I HAVE to read! Thank you so much!
I thought you’d like it. 🙂
Don’t have but am considering a Kindle-thingy. Reading ever so slowly, “The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle” by Haruki Murakami and “The Art of Being Alone” by Tanikawa Shuntaro.
Can totally relate to the reading slowly thing. I just wish I had more time to read. Are they good books?
Fabulous! Shuntaro is one of my favourite poets! And Murakami has amazing characters and dialogue!
I can’t seem to get into a kindle. I’m an old lady stuck on old school paper books I guess.
I had to work at liking my kindle too. But the fact that I can have so many books in one small place and take it with me finally won me over. And that I’d never be without a good book to read. I used to collect so many books. When I moved I had boxes and boxes of them that I had to either give away, throw away or take with me. Now I just have a kindle full of them. So it works for me. Thanks for reading and commenting!
