Question of the Day: What’s Your Favorite Time of Day?

Question of the day

Are you a morning, afternoon, or evening person? Or some combination of the three?

I always have considered myself a morning person. I used to always be up before the sun, except in the summer up north when it comes up about 4:30 AM. Although, I have gotten up then a few times. When I worked, I always felt like I needed an hour to myself before I got ready for work, so that I didn’t feel like my life was just work, eat, and sleep. Now that I’m retired, I still love my mornings and consider myself a morning person, even though they usually start between 7 and 8, because I’m more likely to go to bed between 11 and 12. I love the morning light, as the sun weaves through my banyan tree, and the sounds of mockingbirds and squirrels chattering. It is the coolest part of the day too, and this time of year it’s the only part of the day that one can sit outside in.

Now that I don’t have to run off to work, I have become what I call a glider. I glide into my day, and then out of it at night, slowly speeding up in the morning to a decent level of productivity, and then glide out of it after dinner til I’m ready to go to bed and actually sleep.

I have known people who come alive after dinner. I had a friend at work who would stay up til 2 AM cooking, and then come to work on 4 or 5 hours sleep. I remember my own mother, a teacher, grading papers til late in the evening, stopping to do laundry, or iron, or proof-read our homework papers, or help with some other project. She did usually nap for 20 minutes when she got home from school, but still, even up until her late 80’s, could stay up til midnight watching the Tonight show. I surely didn’t get that gene, lol.

So which are you? What part of the day do you call your own? Looking forward to reading your comments!

As ever, love and light to everyone.

  1. I love this question! Funny thing is, I’m an early riser, totally a morning person, but my favorite time of day is late evening. It’s when I’m winding down, reading a good book, and enjoying time with Jernee. It cannot be beat. 😊

  2. I’ve always been a night owl, except when I was a working mom and had to get kids off to school, then I’d fall asleep reading at 11pm. But my favorite time of day is late afternoon. I love the relaxed golden light as the sun moves toward the horizon.
