Splashdown

Said the Rat to the Mole:

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing — absolutely nothing — half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats.” – from The Wind in the Willows by Kenneth Grahame.

Ahh, ‘tis true, for me at least. There is not much, if anything, I’d rather do than spend a day in the turquoise waters of the Gulf of Mexico, with the man I love, checking out the myriad of islands, and coves, and harbors around here. How lucky am I?

Tomorrow we splash our boat, finally. If only to drive it a couple miles to put it back on the trailer and bring it back to my house. The bottom as been painted, and the outdrive (the propulsion system) has been sandblasted and painted. We have a few more days of work at my house and then, THEN, we will trail the boat a couple miles to the local marina where our slip is waiting.

It’s been an enormous amount of work we had to do, and stress, for a man and woman our age, but we are almost done and feeling good about it. What’s really cool is that we are closer now than before this journey started.

Gonna be a wonderful awesome adventure. Still in awe that my life turned out this way.

Love and light to all.
