Haiku No. 428: Peaceful Slumber

peaceful slumber

In final slumber

The young man rests peacefully

There is no more pain.

His family cries

For the life he could have had

The child loved dearly.

Sadness shook the friends

Who hugged his family tight

Looking for solace.

Looking for answers

There are many, there are none

Elusive comfort.

So we say goodbye

In wistful, choked murmurings

You are loved, Andrew.

In honor of my friend’s son.
