It’s chilly outside
But sunrise is glorious
Feel amazing grace.
This morning the temperature was a not-so-balmy, un-Florida-like 38°. But the sunrise, now, that was another thing. I was grateful to have awakened in time to see it.

I wish you’d told me
I wanted to understand
Why we took that turn
And so it’s written
The end of our sweet story
Was now a fierce storm.
Truth came in torrents
Like the hardest rain cleanses
Answers became clear
The storm is over
We are gone from each other
I understand now.

Raindrops splashed her face
Mixing with the stinging tears
That just wouldn’t stop
Hard pain filled her heart
The space where they used to dance
Was now cold and bleak
She looked to the sky
Grayness folding around her
She hoped for the sun.
