Haiku No. 153: Truthful Moon (4 Parts)

Posted on August 17, 2016 by learning to live like water

Moon

The moon, not quite full,
Missing a sliver of light.
Making promises.

Love did that to me
Once, or twice. Holding back small bits
Promising they’d come.

They never did come,
You know. Prevarication,
Practiced perfectly.

The moon, however,
Doesn’t lie. The missing piece
Will come tomorrow.

Haiku No. 152: Downsizing (3 Parts)

Posted on August 17, 2016 by learning to live like water

downsizing

Packing up my world,
bubble-wrapping memories.
A life in boxes.

Will they look the same
When they sit in tropic sun?
Will they make me smile?

I will only take
Things I love that bring me joy.
Downsizing to bliss.

Haiku No. 151: Worn Out

Posted on August 16, 2016 by learning to live like water

tired smile

The day was too long.

Her eyelids weighed heavily

On her worn out smile.

So worn out she wrote this at night and didn’t publish it til morning because she fell asleep, lol.

Haiku No. 150: Respite

Posted on August 15, 2016 by learning to live like water

cooler daybreak

The day broke cooler

And a breeze lifted my hair.

Sweet respite of dawn.

Haiku No. 149: Connecting

Oh, to love is sweet

tender moments, tender thoughts

connecting two hearts.

Haiku No. 148: Truth and Lies

Posted on August 14, 2016 by learning to live like water

truth and lies

No one should ever
Assume my complicity
In a lie they tell.

They can assume, though
That I will be complicit
In an honest truth.

Haiku No. 147: Cold Drink

rum and coke

Cold drink in my glass
Welcome break from the frenzy
Of life, rearranged.

Haiku No. 146: Stillness

Posted on August 13, 2016 by learning to live like water

stillness-in-nature

The world in stillness

Around me. All life in wait

For day to begin.

Haiku No. 145: Worry (4 parts)

Posted on August 10, 2016 by learning to live like water

you-worry-too-much

The job seems too big
This morning. Worry creeps in.
Will I get it done?

The goal is distant,
The road, long. Time shrinks, quickly.
Yet, there is no choice.

My feet must be sure,
My heart strong, and my mind clear.
One step at a time.

I sit in silence,
In early morning hours, breathe.
All will be complete.

Haiku No. 144: Spiraling

Posted on August 9, 2016 by learning to live like water

spirals

Spiraling inward
From the outer edge of life
Go deep, discover.

What will you find there?
The secret? There’s no secret.
Love is the answer.
