Long nights, wakeful sleep
I heard your breath, then silence
And had to let go.
Some things can’t be said
Only felt, and remembered.
Silence is painful.
Some things can’t be felt
They’re buried, hidden by fear.
Fear causes chaos.
Memories remain
Some are hard, some a blessing.
Lessons from them all.

Tears bleed from my eyes
As the child becomes a man.
So much has happened.
The time to let go
Is never good, nor easy.
Twenty-four years, blinked.
Ours, a few short years.
I pray I’ve done my job well.
Stand back, watch him fly.
Gliding in moonlight
Floating with sun in my eyes
Pliable, content.
Riding on ebb tide
Let the water carry me
Trust it knows its way.
Old pain receding
Water soothing my tired soul
Renewing my joy

Eyes closing, breath slows
Like the moon, her heart was full
Starlight dusting life.
The world in stillness
Around me. All life in wait
For day to begin.
The job seems too big
This morning. Worry creeps in.
Will I get it done?
The goal is distant,
The road, long. Time shrinks, quickly.
Yet, there is no choice.
My feet must be sure,
My heart strong, and my mind clear.
One step at a time.
I sit in silence,
In early morning hours, breathe.
All will be complete.
Spiraling inward
From the outer edge of life
Go deep, discover.
What will you find there?
The secret? There’s no secret.
Love is the answer.
Summer rain falling.
Warm, gentle, peaceful raindrops.
Quenching the earth’s thirst.
