Thinking about ants
moving in and setting up house.
Free-loading tenants.

Thinking about ants
moving in and setting up house.
Free-loading tenants.

The door won’t open
Without a key. Who has it?
The keymaster grins.

Coffee cup steaming
Rising, with the morning sun.
All good things in time.

His blue eyes were cold
When he broke my heart again.
The best he could do?

Bored silly tonight
Thoughts scattered like tumbleweed
Across the desert.
Tired, too, just bone tired.
Wish I had a shoulder to
rest on, to count on.
My own is all I
have, the only one I can trust
Not to betray me.

And so, he was gone.
Gone with the morning breeze
Gone with the singing of the birds
Gone with the first sip of my coffee.
Where?
I do not know.
I didn’t see him leave.
I don’t even know the direction.
The space where he was
Is filled with the things that rushed into
the empty void.
It’s full now.
The void is no longer.
Lessons remain
That’s all.
A lesson of love,
A lesson of trust.
The universe does not allow a vacuum.
Where one thing leaves,
Another comes.
The endless cycles of life.

The space between the words
Is the place we find our soul.
Stillness is required.

It’s a quiet night
Crickets serenade fireflies
Peace rolls up the hill.

The elusive smile
Found it’s way back to my heart.
Joy comes from within.

Birds circling above
Slip-sliding on waves unseen
Dancing with sunbeams
