A new phenomenon for me. We have them up here, but not overwhelmingly so. I asked my sis what to do. She said “welcome to Florida. ” I don’t want to pay an exterminator. But my friend is going to the house tomorrow and see what she can do about them.
Ok. It’s a trade off for needing to wear fleece jammies until the middle of May. And I’ll sell my collection of ice scrapers. lol. But Raid with the $$.
I never had a problem with ants while I was there. Twice, I found little “sugar ants” in my sink but they were after something in a plate that I didn’t wash immediately. I have always heard that if you put down either salt or cinnamon, they will stay away.
I’ll try that when I’m there. Salt is a way to cleanse the energy of the house anyway. You’re supposed to put it around the perimeter. Maybe that’s why, it keeps the bugs out!
Now….if you can deal with the “palmetto bugs” you’ll be set. The first time I saw one of those things, I thought I was going to lose my mind. It sprouted its wings and flew away! They really give me the creeps!
Oh yeah. I’ve seen them. Geezus. They could take a bite out of you. Have ya for lunch. But I’ll be prepared. I will have whatever it is that disables them.
I didn’t have them in Mt. Dora. I just had the occasional little lizard. I didn’t mind them…but it always hurt my feelings when I would find one of their little skeletons. 😦
I had one that lived on one of my plant stands and my grandson and I named him Cutt-is….(Curtis)….we talk with a British accent to each other….and it’s hilarious! You should hear him say “shoebox”….that’s what I call him..
Tis the season for ants. 😦

This is the South. There are tons here. Mostly red ants though and big black ones. In the late Spring and Summer months, they’re the worst!
