Haiku No 231: Release

Posted on December 4, 2016 by learning to live like water

Long nights, wakeful sleep

I heard your breath, then silence

And had to let go.

Haiku No. 187: Lessons

Posted on October 1, 2016 by learning to live like water

silence

Some things can’t be said
Only felt, and remembered.
Silence is painful.

Some things can’t be felt
They’re buried, hidden by fear.
Fear causes chaos.

Memories remain
Some are hard, some a blessing.
Lessons from them all.

Haiku No. 168: Letting Go

Posted on August 31, 2016 by learning to live like water

letting go of son

Tears bleed from my eyes
As the child becomes a man.
So much has happened.

The time to let go
Is never good, nor easy.
Twenty-four years, blinked.

Ours, a few short years.
I pray I’ve done my job well.
Stand back, watch him fly.

Haiku No. 164: Living in the Flow

Posted on August 28, 2016 by learning to live like water

gliding in the moonlight

Gliding in moonlight
Floating with sun in my eyes
Pliable, content.

Riding on ebb tide
Let the water carry me
Trust it knows its way.

Old pain receding
Water soothing my tired soul
Renewing my joy

starlight dusting

Eyes closing, breath slows

Like the moon, her heart was full

Starlight dusting life.

Haiku No. 146: Stillness

Haiku No. 145: Worry (4 parts)

Posted on August 10, 2016 by learning to live like water

you-worry-too-much

The job seems too big
This morning. Worry creeps in.
Will I get it done?

The goal is distant,
The road, long. Time shrinks, quickly.
Yet, there is no choice.

My feet must be sure,
My heart strong, and my mind clear.
One step at a time.

I sit in silence,
In early morning hours, breathe.
All will be complete.

Haiku No. 144: Spiraling

Posted on August 9, 2016 by learning to live like water

spirals

Spiraling inward
From the outer edge of life
Go deep, discover.

What will you find there?
The secret? There’s no secret.
Love is the answer.

summer rain

Summer rain falling.

Warm, gentle, peaceful raindrops.

Quenching the earth’s thirst.
